Feeding a baby is enough to think about, so we keep things simple here too. Breastfeedo (“we”, “us”) collects very little, never sells what little it holds, and the answers below explain exactly what happens to any information that passes through this site.
What information does Breastfeedo collect?
Not much, and most of it never identifies you personally. There are really three kinds:
- Things you choose to send us. If you write to us through our Contact page, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in your message.
- Anonymous usage patterns. Like most websites, we look at aggregated figures such as which pages are read, the approximate region a visit comes from, and the device or browser used. This is counted in totals, not tied to you by name.
- Standard delivery data. Basic technical details such as an IP address are handled by a content delivery network so the site loads quickly and securely.
A gentle but important note: please do not email us health details about yourself or your baby. We are an information site, we cannot give you medical advice, and email is not a secure or private way to send personal health information. If something is worrying you, speak to your midwife, health visitor, GP, or a qualified lactation consultant.
Why do we collect it?
Only for reasons that help you. We use the limited information above to keep the site running and secure, to reply to messages you send, and to understand which guides parents find most useful so we can prioritise and improve them. That is the whole list.
Do you use cookies or analytics?
We try to keep the site light. Where we measure anything, we use a privacy-conscious analytics provider configured to minimise what it records, including IP anonymisation and no cross-site tracking that would follow you around the web. You stay in control: your browser settings let you block or clear cookies whenever you like.
Will you ever sell my information?
No. We do not sell your personal information, we do not rent or trade it, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. That is a firm line for us, not a temporary policy.
What about my baby’s information?
We would rather not have it at all. Breastfeedo does not need any details about your child to help you read our guidance, so please keep your baby’s information to yourself and your own healthcare team. If you accidentally include such details in a message, we will only use them to answer you and will not keep them longer than needed.
How long do you keep things?
Email correspondence is kept only as long as it takes to handle your enquiry and any sensible follow-up, then it is cleared. Aggregated analytics are retained for no longer than we need to spot trends over time.
What rights do I have?
Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask us to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of any personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Just reach out through our Contact page and we will respond as the law requires.
Is the site meant for children?
No. Breastfeedo is written for a general adult audience, the parents and carers doing the feeding, and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age where consent would be required.
How do you keep my information safe?
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the small amount of information we hold. That said, no method of sending data over the internet is ever completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, which is another reason to avoid emailing anything sensitive.
What if this policy changes?
If we update this policy, the “Last updated” date at the top will change to show it. Carrying on using the site after an update means you accept the revised version.
How do I get in touch?
Questions about your privacy or anything on this page are always welcome. Please use our Contact page and we will be glad to help. You may also want to read our Terms of Use and About pages.
