The content on Breastfeedo is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for professional diagnosis, treatment, or care from a qualified healthcare provider for you or your baby.
Not medical advice
Nothing on this site should be taken as a recommendation for or against any treatment or course of action for you or your baby specifically. Decisions about feeding, your health, and your baby’s health should be made with your own midwife, health visitor, lactation consultant, or doctor, who knows your full situation.
Personal experience is not guidance
Some of our content describes personal experience of breastfeeding. Every parent, baby, and feeding journey is different. What was true for one family may not be true for yours, and personal accounts are shared for support and context, not as instructions.
When to seek help urgently
Some situations need prompt medical attention. If your baby is feeding poorly, is unusually sleepy or floppy, has fewer wet nappies than expected, is losing weight, or you are worried about their health, contact your midwife, health visitor, or doctor without delay. If you develop a high fever, a hot painful breast, or flu-like symptoms (possible mastitis) that do not settle, seek medical help. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
No doctor and patient relationship
Reading this site, or contacting us, does not create a doctor and patient relationship. Our reviewers check articles for general accuracy; they are not your treating clinician and cannot advise on your individual case.
Accuracy and external links
We make reasonable efforts to keep the information accurate and current, but we make no warranties about its completeness or how it applies to your situation. Any reliance you place on it is strictly at your own risk. External links are provided for convenience and reference; we are not responsible for the content of third-party sites.
Always consult a professional
Always seek the advice of a qualified health professional with any questions about feeding or about your or your baby’s health, and never disregard professional advice because of something you have read here.
