Editorial Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026

We are committed to accurate, useful, and clearly-sourced information about breastfeeding and infant feeding. This page explains how we work.

How articles are created

Articles are researched and written by our editorial team using authoritative sources, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the CDC, the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, and La Leche League, which we cite at the foot of every article.

Expert review

Every article is reviewed before publication. Lactation and feeding topics are reviewed by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and medical topics by a consultant paediatrician. Reviewed articles display the reviewer’s name, credentials, and the date of review. Our current reviewers are Megan Foster, IBCLC and Dr Amara Okafor, MBBS, MRCPCH. This review confirms factual accuracy and clarity; it is not personal medical advice.

A non-judgemental approach

Feeding a baby is hard, and it does not always go to plan. We present breastfeeding as it is recommended, while respecting that combination feeding and formula feeding are valid, safe choices. We do not shame any way of feeding a baby.

Keeping content current

We review published articles periodically and update them as guidance changes. Each article shows its publication date and, where applicable, when it was last updated or reviewed.
